75K A Week Wage Demands Could Scupper Celtic’s Pursuit Of Managerial Target

Lucien Favre could demand as much as €4.5m a year (around £75,000 a week) if Celtic decide to approach the Swiss manager, according to Milliyet.

The Turkish newspaper was reporting on Fenerbahce’s attempts to hire the 63-year-old but they claim the Super Lig side pulled out of talks once they heard about the wages being asked for.

It would surely rule out Favre moving to the Hoops as well. Currently, the former Borussia Dortmund head coach is second favourite behind Eddie Howe to take the role at Celtic.

Other names that are said to be in frame include current interim manager John Kennedy, Roy Keane and Manchester City Under 23 coach Enzo Maresca.

Howe remains the standout candidate but the delay in the 43-year-old’s appointment has got many fans worried that he may be using Celtic to get another job at an English Premier League team. For the time being, supporters will need to remain patient to see what transpires.
