Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is keen to work with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Hannes Wolf, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The English reporter has confirmed reports coming out of Germany that the Hoops are one of the clubs looking to snap up the Austrian international on loan this month. He claims that Postecoglou has been tracking the playmaker for quite a while:
“Wolf has been a long-term target for Celtic. Ange Postecoglou is reportedly a big admirer of him and it seems he doesn’t really figure in Monchengladbach’s plans going forward.”
With a move for Charlotte FC’s Riley McGree now looking dead in the water, there is a strong possibility that Celtic will turn their attentions to Wolf instead.
Although the 22-year-old only moved to Gladbach on a permanent basis in the summer, he has struggled for game time under head coach Adi Hutter, and the Bundesliga side are said to be open to loaning him out.
Rapid Vienna and a number of Turkish Super Lig clubs have been mentioned as potential suitors for Wolf so it remains to be seen whether a switch to Parkhead materialises.
