“A Really Quick And Exciting Talent” Nicholas Urges Celtic To Target Arsenal Ace As Edouard’s Replacement

Celtic should make a move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah as Odsonne Edouard‘s replacement, according to former Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas.

England’s record goalscorer at Under 21 level is expected to be sold this summer, with West Ham, Watford and Bayer Leverkusen leading the race for his signature. However, Nicholas has urged the Hoops to get involved in the battle:

“I would try and get Eddie Nketiah from my old club Arsenal. He has been linked with West Ham United and teams in the Bundesliga and he is a really quick and exciting talent. He had a spell on loan at Leeds cut short because of injury but he is back fit and he is one I would look at either on a loan or a permanent contract, if that could be done.”

A loan is almost certainly out of the question with Nketiah having a year left on his contract, but it does mean he could be available for a relatively affordable price.

In terms of other targets, Nicholas puts forward a few other names, including Hibernian’s Josh Doig, Leicester and Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward, Liverpool’s number two Caoimhin Kelleher and Millwall’s Danny McNamara.

Some of these are pretty sensible suggestions, although whether any of them are on Ange Postecoglou’s shortlist of potential signings, we shall have to wait and see.
