Hibernian manager Jack Ross has dismissed reports that striker Kevin Nisbet could leave for Celtic in a swap deal, with Leigh Griffiths moving in the other direction.

Nisbet has been linked with a switch to Parkhead for most of the summer but, in recent days, it has been suggested that Griffiths could move to his former club in order to make the deal happen.

The Scotland international has struggled to get a look-in since signing a new one-year deal earlier this summer, but when asked whether such a swap was a possibility, Ross said there was no basis to the speculation:

“I was surprised to hear about it yesterday because unless people at the club aren’t telling me things – which I don’t imagine is the case – then it’s nonsense, really. It just shows how something can be created and people can run with it. As far as we’re concerned there’s absolutely no truth in it.”

Nisbet is thought to be valued in excess of £4m by Hibs, and the 24-year-old has had a decent start to the season as well, having scored two goals and contributed two assists in six appearances. Whether there will be any approach from Celtic before the window closes, we shall have to wait and see.
