Agbonlahor Questions Whether 20M Rated Celtic Star Is Ready Amid United And Arsenal Links

TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley should not “rush” into signing for an English Premier League club.

The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester and Newcastle have all been mentioned as potential suitors for the Denmark Under 21 international. However, Agbonlahor believes the 21-year-old would be making a big leap if he were to move south of the border:

“The Premier League is a tough elite league where some players come and struggle. I wouldn’t rush players into it, to be honest. O’Riley’s been there [at Celtic] eight months, you give them more time and not rush them into it.”

In some ways, Agbonlahor is right that O’Riley shouldn’t be looking for a move so soon after arriving at the club. He was snapped up from MK Dons only in January after all.

However, he also seems to be suggesting he isn’t ready to play in the English top flight, which is a questionable assumption to make, considering he’s now making appearances in the Champions League group stages.

Celtic will also not let him leave without a fight. It is believed that the Hoops will demand between £15m to £20m if a club makes an approach for the player in the future.
