Agent Reveals Celtic Are “Very Interested” In Signing Egyptian Star But They Don’t Plan To Keep Him

Celtic remain keen on signing Al Ahly attacking midfielder Mohamed Magdy, according to the player’s agent.

The Hoops were first linked with the Egyptian international before the transfer window shut last month, but speaking about his client, Abdelrahman Ismail claims the Hoops are continuing to keep tabs on the playmaker. The Scottish champions are not looking to keep Magdy, though, with the plan being to loan out the player to gain more experience in European football:

“Scottish club Celtic are very interested in the services of Al Ahly’s Mohamed Magdy Afsha. Celtic want to sign Afsha and then loan him out to a European club. However, Al Ahly is against the idea of letting the player go especially as they are preparing for the CAF Champions League final.”

It is slightly strange that the only reports about Celtic’s interest in the 24-year-old have come from the player’s agent so far. Ismail could well be trying to drum up interest in his client or he may be looking to get an improved contract from the midfielder’s current club.

Whatever the truth, it doesn’t appear Al Ahly will be looking to sell Magdy anytime soon. The African Champions League final takes place right at the end of this month.
