Barry Ferguson Gives One Big Reason Why Lennon’s Celtic Side Are Superior To Rodgers’

Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson believes Celtic are a better team under manager Neil Lennon than they were under Brendan Rodgers.

The ex-Gers midfielder says the Hoops are far more effective in attack this season, and a lot of that is down to playing two strikers up top:

“Celtic are a better team under Neil Lennon than they were with Brendan Rodgers. I think they are more attack-minded and the thing I like about them is, after the Old Firm game on the 29th, they went away and worked on a system that I think suits them as well.”

“You get two strikers up top – Edouard and Griffiths look a real danger together For me, Celtic are definitely a better team under Neil Lennon.”

In Rodgers’ first season in charge, Celtic scored 106 goals as they went the whole 38-game campaign unbeaten. However, their goals tally dropped to just 73 in their second season.

Lennon’s side ended the 2018/19 campaign having scored 77; an improvement on Rodgers’ second full season in charge, and they have already scored 82 times in 28 games this year.

To beat the 2016/17 record, though, they would need to average around 2.5 goals per game for the remaining ten league fixtures. Considering how prolific they have been since the turn of the year, you definitely wouldn’t put it past them to surpass Rodgers’ first season total. It would certainly be quite an achievement.
