Brendan Rodgers Getting Serious About Landing French Starlet Permanently

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers knows a thing or two about strikers and getting the best out of them as he did so successfully with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge during his spell as Liverpool boss.

While Luis Suarez has gone on to excel under management at other clubs, Daniel Sturridge played his very best under Rodgers and has never been able to recapture the form he displayed under the current Hoops boss when he was at Liverpool.

Celtic have managed to secure a number of talented young strikers since Rodgers has been the boss with Charly Musonda being the most recent capture.

The Hoops beat a host of other clubs to land the Belgian starlet on a one and a half year loan from Chelsea this past January and Musonda has been doing well in Glasgow reinforcing the trust clubs have in loaning young players to Brendan Rodgers.

With the signing of French striker Moussa Dembele proving to be a big positive both for the player himself and Celtic, Rodgers managed to sign another French young forward with huge potential when last summer he secured the season long loan signing of Odsonne Edouard from French giants PSG.

The 20 year old Edouard has been a big hit at Celtic Park this season scoring 8 goals in his 24 appearances including a goal in the recent high profile Old Firm Derby which Celtic won 3-2 over their arch-rivals Rangers at Ibrox.

When speaking about the French starlet Rodgers had this to say:

“We have to respect he’s a PSG player, not a Celtic player.

“There is a clause in the deal. The clause is there and there’s been an agreement – but we would need to trigger the fee.

“There’s a lot to do in terms of the bigger picture too. In time we’ll see. He’s a fantastic player and we’ll see between now and the end of the season.

“But he’s settled in well and if we have any chance to do something at the end of the season then we can look at that.”

“Because his representatives aren’t running about throwing him to every club under the sun it doesn’t mean he’s not a top player.

“There’s no propaganda around him, but he’s a top talent.”

Brendan Rodgers clearly is a big fan of the Frenchman and at only 20 years old the youngster has a huge upside. Knowing the way Celtic have operated under the Northern Irishman you can see them landing their man on another loan deal or potentially signing him permanently in the summer.
