Brendan Rodgers Pulls Off Major Transfer Coup With Loan Signing Of Starlet

Celtic have traditionally looked to add attack minded midfielders or forwards in recent Winter transfer windows as they look to secure silverware and bolster their squad for assaults on multiple trophies in the remaining months of the season..

With the form and future of Moussa Dembele uncertain and the player possibly leaving in this window or the next one Brendan Rodgers clearly wanted to add another goal-scoring option to his squad.

With the announcement today Celtic are obviously delighted to reveal the addition of Charly Musonda on an 18 month loan deal from current Premier League Champions Chelsea.

Former Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers used to work in the youth set-up at Chelsea in the 2000’s and it appears as though his connections with the club helped get this deal over the line for the Hoops. His stints as both Liverpool and Swansea manager would also have helped attract the Belgian starlet as his spells at both clubs were marked with a dynamic attacking brand of football.

It would appear as though Celtic have secured a player many clubs were in the hunt for as Rodgers had this to say about the club’s latest addition when speaking in a press conference today:

“It is subject to the medical, but he is a really exciting prospect. It’s a great opportunity for him to show his talents. He has wonderful ability and is very dynamic. He’ll bring creativity to our side. Twenty-four clubs were in for Charly so it is a great coup for us. He is one of the shining lights in the Chelsea academy”.

From the tweets below by his mother it would appear that Charly Musonda and his family are just as pleased as Celtic and boss Rodgers are with the deal and the young Belgian forward clearly feels it is a loan which will help him develop to his full potential.

Parent club Chelsea must also be very happy with the loan to Celtic as they think very highly of Musonda and have been careful in where he has moved so that he has plenty of opportunities to play and to develop in a solid, quality environment which Rodgers and Celtic can certainly provide.
