Celtic And Arsenal Told They Will Need To Pay 5M To Land Scottish Teenage Prodigy

Hibernian will ask clubs to pay £5m if they want to sign left-back Josh Doig this summer, according to reports in the UK.

Celtic, Watford, Arsenal and even AC Milan have all been mentioned as potential suitors but Hibs are expected to play hardball if any team makes a formal approach for the teenager.

Doig only signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract back in February and the Scottish club are under no pressure to sell unless a sizeable offer is made. It is also believed that Jack Ross’s side would ask for a large sell-on clause as part of any deal.

The fullback had a breakthrough campaign with Hibs, racking up 35 appearances in all competitions and being named in the Scottish Premiership team of the season.

Celtic could certainly do with a player like Doig, with Diego Laxalt having returned to Milan following his loan spell. The Hoops currently have just one left-back, Greg Taylor, in their first-team squad.
