Celtic And Rangers ‘Fighting’ To Secure Deal For Chelsea Starlet

Celtic and Rangers are both interested in signing Chelsea youngster Adrian Akande, according to Allnigeriasoccer.com. The website reports that the Old Firm rivals are “fighting” each other to sign the teenager, while there are also a whole host of Premier League teams in the race for his signature.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham are believed to be keen on the 15-year-old, with German side Hoffenheim also said to be in the mix.

Akande has not signed a professional deal at Chelsea and can talk to other potential suitors before committing his long-term future. He has already spent some time with the Hammers and actually featured for their Under 18s and Under 23s on trial back in August.

The Nigerian Under 17 international is a winger and would likely go straight into Celtic’s academy side if he were to move north of the border.

With the sheer number of teams pursuing Akande, however, it does appear unlikely that he’ll end up at Parkhead unless he sees the Scottish club as offering him the best prospects of progression into the first team.
