Celtic Are In ‘Constant Contact’ With 13 Goal American Ace Who Is Open To Summer Transfer

Celtic have been in “constant contact” about signing Zalaegerszeg striker Eduvie Ikoba, according to Fussball Europa.

The German website claims that Stuttgart, Toulouse, as well as clubs in both Italy and the USA, are also weighing up bids for the 25-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season.

It appears that teams from across Europe have descended on Zalaegerszeg to see Ikoba in action off the back of a prolific campaign in the Nemzeti Bajnoksag (the Hungarian First Division).

He was born in Iowa, US, but he made the surprise switch to Hungarian football in the summer of 2019. The forward then left Zalaegerszeg after just one season, moving to Slovakian side AS Trencin before returning to Hungary last year.

Ikoba is open to moving teams this summer

Fussball Europa claim that Ikoba is keen on leaving Zalaegerszeg at the end of the campaign, and his club would be willing to sell for the right price.

In terms of whether Celtic actually need another number nine, it is debatable. Kyogo Furuhashi is the undisputed first choice, with Oh Hyeon-gyu his understudy, so it is hard to see when Ikoba would get game time.
