Celtic Are ‘Serious’ About Snapping Up A £5.4m Rated Bundesliga Poacher With Bid Expected ‘Shortly’

Celtic are “serious” about signing Union Berlin striker Sebastian Andersson, according to Kicker. The German publication claims the Hoops are expected to submit an official bid for the Swedish international “shortly.”

Manager Neil Lennon is looking to strengthen his forward line and, with their attempts to sign West Ham’s Albian Ajeti having stalled for the time being, it appears they are looking around the market for other potential options.

Andersson was a target for Celtic before he signed a new contract back in February, but it appears his €6m (£5.4m) release clause has led to the Scottish champions reviving their interest.

The club reportedly had a £4m offer turned down by Peterborough for Ivan Toney on Friday so there is clearly money in the bank to invest in a new striker.

Celtic do have competition for Andersson, though, with the likes of Newcastle United, Leeds, West Brom and Schalke also said to be interested.
