Celtic Could Have To Wait Up To TWELVE Weeks To Receive 4.3M Transfer Windfall

Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis did not seal his move away from Parkhead on deadline day earlier this week but that doesn’t mean he’ll be staying in Scotland.

Transfer windows in other parts of the world open and close at different times, and MLS clubs actually have until the end of March, which is the best part of twelve weeks away, to complete any potential deals.

With Atlanta United said to be the frontrunner for Giakoumakis, there is no rush to get things wrapped up. Their season does start on February 25th so you would still expect some sort of movement by then but fans will have to be patient for news.

It is believed that Atlanta are prepared to pay around £4.3m for the Greek international, which is a decent profit for the Hoops, who originally spent £2.5m on the forward.

However, the sell-on clause agreed with Giakoumakis’s previous team VVV Venlo means around £645,000 will end up going to the Dutch club.
