Celtic Could Make Surprise Swoop For Italian Playmaker (Who Once Cost £18m)

Celtic are keen on signing former AC Milan midfielder Andrea Bertlolacci, according to reports in Italy.

The 28-year-old left the Rossoneri earlier this summer and is available on a free transfer.

Bertolacci was recruited by Milan for €20m (£18m) in 2015, but he struggled for form and was loaned out to Genoa in the 2017/18 campaign.

After failing to make an impression out on loan, despite being a first-team regular, he returned to the San Siro last summer.

Bertolacci featured just four times under manager Gennaro Gattuso last season, making two starts and two substitute appearances in the Europa League group stages.

The Italian, who has five caps for his country at senior level, generally plays as a central midfield player, but can also play in a more advanced role.

In addition to Celtic, reports suggest that Fiorentina and his former side Genoa could also make a move for the free agent
