Celtic Flop Backed To Leave As Pundit Names English Championship Club Who Would “Snap Him Up”

Celtic loanee Shane Duffy could make the switch to Nottingham Forest if his spell with the Hoops is cut short this month, according to former Brighton and Celtic defender Adam Virgo.

Duffy has struggled since arriving in Scotland and Virgo believes that the Republic of Ireland international may well link up with his former Seagulls manager Chris Hughton, who is currently in charge at the City Ground:

“I don’t see Shane going back to Brighton because he won’t get into the side. Other clubs will take him in the Championship. I guarantee Chris Hughton, who had him at Brighton, would snap him up at Nottingham Forest.”

It has been a disastrous loan spell so far for Duffy, who has failed to handle the expectations of playing for such a big club. The 29-year-old has looked like a bag of nerves when called upon and the number of mistakes he has made means he has built up very little trust.

Manager Neil Lennon does have a decision to make, and it may be best for both the player and for Celtic that the Irishman’s time at Parkhead is cut short so he can rebuild his confidence at a lower level south of the border.
