Celtic Handed Double Fitness Boost Ahead Of Motherwell Clash

Celtic will have both David Turnbull and Daizen Maeda available for this afternoon’s game against Motherwell.

Turnbull pulled out of international duty after sustaining an ankle injury but he has returned to training this week. Maeda picked up a thigh problem in Japan’s 2-0 win over the United States and he had to be substituted at half-time during the friendly. He did not feature against Ecuador on Tuesday but he should be in the Hoops’ matchday squad today.

Manager Ange Postecoglou will, though, be without three other key players. Giorgos Giakoumakis did not feature for Greece during the international break due to a muscular issue and he is still not back to full fitness.

Carl Starfelt has not played since the 4-0 win over Rangers, and the Swedish international remains on the treatment table along with Cameron Carter-Vickers who pulled up before the 2-0 defeat to St Mirren. it is not known when either centre-back will be back in contention.
