Celtic Handed Major Boost In Race To Land £8m Rated Defender

Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien is interested in a move to Celtic, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The defender has held talks with his agent and he is apparently open to a switch to the Scottish champions if a bid is made.

Toulouse are reportedly holding out for £8m but Celtic are believed to be confident that a deal can be done for less.

Jullien was a regular starter in Ligue One last season, making 34 appearances. He has been ever-present for the French club since he joined from Freiburg for €2.8m three years ago.

Toulouse’s defensive record during those three campaigns has been a bit patchy. In the 2016/17 season, they finished 13th, conceding just 41 goals.

In Jullien’s second year, his side conceded 54 as they narrowly avoided relegation, while last campaign the Ligue One side shipped 57.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon will be hoping that with either Kristoffer Ajer or Jozo Simunovic alongside him, the Frenchman can help keep a few more clean sheets.
