Celtic Handed Serious Injury Blow Ahead Of Champions League Clash

Celtic will be without Mikey Johnston for the second leg of their Champions League qualifier against FK Sarajevo.

Manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that the 20-year-old will miss the game at Celtic Park on Wednesday with a knock he picked up late in the first game in Bosnia.

New signing Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo also sustained an injury in the first leg, but he looks set to be included in the starting eleven next week, according to Lennon:

“Boli Bolingoli should be okay for Wednesday but Mikey Johnston will just miss out.”

The Hoops’ other major summer signing, Christopher Jullien, will also make his competitive debut versus Sarajevo.

Lennon has eased the £7m signing into life at Parkhead but will let him loose against Rennes in a friendly tomorrow afternoon before the Champions League clash.

Celtic lead 3-1 on aggregate heading into the second leg. If they make it through they will face either North Macedonian side Shkendija or Estonian outfit Kalju. Shkendija are favourites to progress as they lead 1-0 ahead of their second match at home.
