Celtic Have Agreement In Place To Sign Six Cap England International

Celtic have come to an agreement with Southampton over signing Fraser Forster on loan, according to reports in the UK.

The 31-year-old is currently third-choice goalkeeper at the Saints after having fallen behind both Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy in the pecking order.

He is well known to Hoops boss Neil Lennon, who originally signed him on loan from Newcastle in 2010, before joining permanently for £2m in 2012. The shot-stopper went on to win three league titles and two Scottish Cups before he was sold down south for £10m in 2014.

Forster has six caps for England and he will be hoping to recover his form in Scotland once his move is finalised after a medical. With Scott Bain out injured with a dislocated thumb, the keeper will have a good chance to stake a claim to become the club’s number one, if he can replicate some of the performances he showed in his first spell at Parkhead.
