Celtic Injury News: Updates On Frimpong, Ajer And Elyounoussi

Celtic right-back Jeremie Frimpong will not be involved when the Hoops face St Johnstone this evening. The Dutchman was stretchered off against Kilmarnock, missing the win against Ross County on Saturday, and manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that the player has undergone a scan at a specialist to determine the seriousness of the problem:

“He’s seeing a specialist today, we’ll know the extent of the injury after that. He’s had a scan on it so hopefully, it won’t be too bad.”

Jozo Simunovic is in the provisional squad for today’s game but Lennon has said that the Croatian may not make the 18 due to a knock.

Kristoffer Ajer is, however, available again after the Norwegian international missed the match at the weekend. Nir Bitton is still a week away from returning from a hamstring injury he picked up in the win over Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup.

Mohamed Elyounoussi is also closing in on a return from a foot injury. Lennon said the Swiss international “isn’t far away” from making his comeback, with the estimate that he’ll back at the start of February looking like an accurate prediction.
