Celtic Involved In Three Team Tussle To Sign 19 Year Old Defender

Celtic are interested in signing Legia Warsaw left-back Mical Karbownik, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The Hoops are said to have scouted the 19-year-old on two separate occasions this season with the Hoops looking to strengthen their options on the left-hand side of defence.

Summer signing Boli Bolingoli has fallen out of favour after starting the season as first-choice left-back and, while Greg Taylor has settled into life at Parkhead, the Scottish international has not convinced playing in a wingback position.

Karbownik has six assists in 19 Polish league appearances this season, so he would pose a greater attacking threat than Taylor.

However, Celtic will have to see off two other teams if they want to sign the teenager. Russian side Dynamo Moscow and La Liga club Real Betis are both also tracking the player.

In the current financial climate, it remains to be seen whether the Hoops do have resources to see off the challenge of others in order to secure Karbownik’s signature.
