Celtic Involved In Transfer Scrap For Slovenian Poacher With Rival Set To Table £3.5m Bid

Celtic are set to face competition from Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev in the race to sign Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar, according to the Daily Record.

Dynamo are said to be preparing a £3.5m bid for the 25-year-old as they look to beat the Hoops to the Slovenian international’s signature when the transfer window reopens next week.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has admitted that the Scottish champions have held talks about signing Sporar, although he did also say that the forward was just one of a number of targets they have been looking at.

Kiev’s intervention in the race may not prove decisive, though, as Slovan have already said they are holding out for £5m, which the Ukrainian club’s offer will fall short of.

Sporar will also likely have other suitors in January after a superb first half of the season in Slovakia. The Slovenian has scored 20 goals in just 26 games so far this campaign.
