Celtic Join EPL Teams In Battle To Sign 16 Year Old Defender Who Has Already Played 7 Senior Games

Celtic are one of the clubs who have taken a keen interest in Dundee United centre-back Kerr Smith, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The 16-year-old is seen as one of the most promising young talents in the country, and he has already made seven senior appearances for the Tangerines.

While Celtic are keeping tabs on Smith, though, it seems that Southampton are the ones who are pressing to sign him before the transfer window closes, having already had two bids rejected for the defender.

Leeds, Crystal Palace and Leicester are also thought to be in the running for the player’s signature, with United resigned to the fact that the teenager will be leaving.

Manager Ange Postecoglou currently has limited options at centre-half but you would have to think that Smith would be one for the future, rather than someone who could come in and make an impact at Celtic straight away.
