Celtic have joined Lazio and Villarreal in the race to sign Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson, according to reports in the Italian media.

The former Swedish Under 21 international has been in fine form in the English Championship this season, having scored three goals and contributed 11 assists in 27 appearances for the Robins.

Eliasson is out of contract in the summer, and he may be available for a knockdown price before the transfer window closes next week.

With Hoops boss Neil Lennon looking for a winger, the Swedish star could well be an option the club are considering. The Scottish champions were reportedly looking at Hibernian’s Martin Boyle but Lennon has refuted those claims.

Sealing a move for Eliasson, though, could be a challenge, considering the interest being shown in him. Lazio are said to be more interested in signing him at the end of the season so that could help Celtic’s chances, but the intentions of Villarreal remain unclear.
