Celtic Lining Up Move For £1m Shot Stopper As Potential Forster Alternative

Celtic are considering whether to make a bid for Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, according to reports in the English media.

The Hoops were hopeful of reviving a move for Southampton’s Fraser Forster but with the 32-year-old keen on a permanent switch, rather than another loan deal, Neil Lennon’s side have been forced to look at alternatives.

Bettinelli has just one year left on his contract at Craven Cottage and could be available for £1m after falling down the pecking order with the English club.

Manager Scott Parker made him his number one at the start of the season but he had lost his place to understudy Marek Rodak by the start of November.

Bettinelli is an experienced goalkeeper, having been called up by England’s senior side in the past, although he was never handed his first cap. He is also still only 28 years of age but there are major question marks over whether he has the quality to replace Forster.
