Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas could have missed out on playing in the huge top of the table clash against Rangers this weekend if the Scottish champions hadn’t chartered a private jet, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper claims an air traffic control strike following Greece’s 0-0 draw against Kosovo in the Nations League last night meant that the shot-stopper would not have been able to return before Saturday’s game at Celtic Park without assistance.
Barkas was on the bench for the game yesterday evening and should be well-rested when he arrives back in Scotland. His return is a major boost considering that the Hoops could be without up to four other players as a result of the international break.
Ryan Christie, Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed won’t be available as they are all self-isolating due to COVID-19, while Odsonne Edouard is also touch and go with the Frenchman expected to be out of quarantine tomorrow.
