Celtic are interested in signing LASK Linz winger Husein Balic, according to the Daily Mail. The Hoops have reportedly been watching the Austrian in recent months ahead of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old is known for his lightning pace and it’s likely that Nicky Hammond and the club’s recruitment team have been keeping tabs on the player following the injuries to Mikey Johnston and James Forrest.

Balic has been in good form this season, having scored five goals in 13 appearances for LASK, but the Austrian club are struggling financially and could be open to selling the winger for around £2.8m in the New Year.

That price has also attracted the attention of other clubs. English Premier League side Southampton and Championship team Brentford have also been looking at the former Austrian Under 21 international. He generally plays off the left-hand side, but he is also capable of playing off the right flank or in more central areas.
