Celtic Named As One Of Three Clubs Tipped To Make Summer Swoop For United Starlet

Celtic and Rangers are both keeping tabs on Manchester United midfielder Aliou Traore, according to reports in the French media.

It is believed the Old Firm rivals will be joined by Benfica in the battle to sign the 19-year-old when the transfer window opens.

Traore moved to United from Paris Saint-Germain’s academy in 2017, but he has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils.

With his contract expiring at the end of next season, the teenager could well leave Old Trafford this summer if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and James Garner are all ahead of Traore in the pecking order at United and the France Under 19 international may feel he could get more first-team chances by leaving the club.

Celtic have already shown that they are prepared to hand Premier League academy players opportunities at senior level, with manager Neil Lennon having given Jeremie Frimpong regular game time last season.
