Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu scored his second and third goals of the season during the 6-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend.
Even though the South Korean international hasn’t been afforded a lot of game time by manager Brendan Rodgers, he has still averaged a goal every 85 minutes.
Oh’s brace on Sunday afternoon has got supporters on X debating his start to the campaign, with some believing he deserves more love from the fanbase:
Underrated and overhated.

He steps up when needed, can’t ask for more than that, any striker coming in needs to play 2nd fiddle to Kyogo, maybe an experienced older striker, the likes of Antonio who were linked with in the summer, someone who will be happy as a squad player, tough to find I’d say

Nobody gave scales a cat n hells chance at making at Celtic, call me optimistic but I reckon the big fella will prove doubters wrong, too many jump to quick assumptions ☘️

Let’s not get carried away. We need a new forward come Jan. He did well today but let’s not pretend he’s the next big thing, far from it.

Different player than Kyogo but a decent sub thus far. More of a grinder.

Far better all round player than GG

One strong performance won’t silence the doubters
Many fans feel that the Hoops need to go into the transfer market in the New Year to strengthen the forward line.
With Oh having only scored once before the Aberdeen game, there was a good deal of justification for doing just that, so whether one game will alter people’s opinions, we shall have to wait and see.
Rodgers is not convinced by Oh
Considering that Kyogo Furuhashi has had to play so many matches, it was hoped that Oh could shoulder some of the burden.
However, for whatever reason, Rodgers has been reluctant to put the 22-year-old in from the start of games, with the Ross County fixture the only time that he has been given the nod. Perhaps after the double at the weekend, Oh will get more opportunities.
