Celtic On Alert As Midfield Target Is Made Available For Transfer By Tottenham

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama will be made available for transfer in the January transfer window, according to reports in the English media.

The Kenyan has been named as one of five players who will be placed on the transfer list, which will no doubt put Celtic on alert. Manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that he did consider a move for the 28-year-old in the summer.

However, the Hoops boss also said that the Scottish champions may not consider a bid in January for two different reasons.

Lennon believes Wanyama could prove to be too expensive while he also questioned whether he needs another central midfield player.

Celtic currently have Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Olivier Ntcham and Nir Bitton who can play in the middle of the park, but it must be said that Wanyama’s experience would make him an invaluable first-team player.

He may have had his injury problems over recent years but he has made 154 appearances in the Premier League for both Southampton and Spurs.
