Celtic Opt Against Appointing Former Bundesliga Manager After Holding Talks

Celtic held talks with former Nuremberg manager Michael Kollner, according to Wales Online.

The Hoops have, however, opted against appointing the German as they don’t believe he has the experience required to manage the Scottish champions.

Kollner was appointed as Nuremberg manager in 2017, after previously only having managed youth teams, but he proved to be a shrewd choice after helping the team clinch promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2017/18 season.

The 49-year-old was asked by the German media about links to Celtic today but refused to comment on the rumours.

Swansea are also said to be after Kollner, who was widely praised for playing a brand of attacking football during his time at Nuremberg.

The German was sacked as head coach back in February with the Bundesliga side struggling against relegation. Nuremberg finished on 19 points from 34 games, finishing rock bottom of the table, being relegated after just one season back in the top flight.
