Celtic are one of a number of European teams targeting a move for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors’ Cho Gue-sung, according to reports in the Scottish media.
The 6ft 2 striker has risen to prominence following his brace for South Korea in a World Cup group match against Ghana.
Cho was, however, already on Ange Postecoglou‘s radar, with the Hoops boss having seen the player in action when his Yokohama F-Marinos side faced Jeonbuk a few years ago.
It’s more than likely that the 24-year-old is being considered as a potential replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis, who has been tipped to leave Parkhead in January.
Negotiations over a new contract have reportedly stalled, with the Greek international feeling that he warrants a pay rise following his performances over the last eighteen months.
Cho is a similar type of player to Giakoumakis. He does have an aerial presence, while he is also very capable of holding up the ball.
