Celtic Pull Out Of Deal For £21m Rated France Under 21 International

Celtic have opted against firming up their interest in Lyon forward Amine Gouiri, according to reports in the French media.

The Hoops were said to be keen on signing the France Under 21 international but it appears the player’s asking price has led to them withdrawing from the race to sign him.

Lyon would like to either loan out or sell Gouiri outright and the Ligue One side are believed to be holding out for around €24m (£21m).

Such a valuation is pretty steep considering the 20-year-old has only made 15 appearances in senior football. He has played most of the season with the club’s Under 19s, having performed well in the UEFA Youth League.

Gouiri scored three goals in two games during the knockout stages, helping Lyon to progress to the quarter-finals before the season was suspended.

However, he has played just five first-team games this season, with his only start coming against Toulouse in the French League Cup back in December.
