Brighton have made an offer worth £22m for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, according to reports in the Scottish media.
The Seagulls are prepared to pay £18.5m upfront, with another £3.5m in performance-related bonuses for the Frenchman. The Hoops will also get 15% of any future transfer if the player is sold for a fee in excess of £30m.
With Edouard having less than a year left on his contract, it seems like a fair offer, especially as it appears no other team seems prepared to make a formal bid for the 23-year-old at this time.
Southampton, West Ham, Arsenal and Crystal Palace have been credited with an interest in the former France Under 21 international but Brighton are the club who have put the money on the table.
The Premier League side are expected to receive £50m from the sale of Ben White to Arsenal so they are certainly not short of transfer funds.
