Celtic Scouted £7m Rated Tierney Replacement Last Week

Celtic Director of Football Nicky Hammond watched Brentford left-back Rico Henry last week, according to the Daily Record. The Scottish publication says the Hoops will, though, have a fight on their hands to sign the 22-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Brentford are planning to offer the fullback a new deal with the player’s current contract at Griffin Park due to expire at the end of next season.

Henry is said to be rated at £7m by the Bees but is seen by Celtic as a good replacement for Kieran Tierney, who left for Arsenal on Thursday.

The Scottish champions received £25m from that deal so they should have little trouble matching Brentford’s asking price for Henry.

The left-back joined from Walsall in 2016, following manager Dean Smith to the Championship side. He has only made 37 appearances for the English club over the past three seasons due to shoulder and knee injuries.
