Celtic are considering former Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre as a potential alternative to Eddie Howe, according to reports in the UK.
It is believed that Howe has agreed in principle to take the Hoops job but no contract has been signed yet, and if the 43-year-old were to pull out at the last minute, the Scottish club are looking to have another candidate lined up.
Favre has managed in his native Switzerland, France and Germany but his only league titles came when he was FC Zurich manager, winning back to back Swiss Super League crowns in 2006 and 2007.
His time in charge of Dortmund was pretty successful, finishing second twice behind Bayern Munich before being sacked after losing four of his opening 11 league games this season.
Celtic will, though, only open talks with Favre if Howe does indeed opt against taking the job. Crystal Palace are also said to be keen on the former Bournemouth manager, and that may have played a role in delaying his appointment, but the Eagles are not thought to see him as the standout candidate so it may have no bearing on his final decision.
