Celtic star hopeful of Europa League success

Celtic star Moussa Dembele is confident his side can make the best out of their tough Europa League last-32 tie with Zenit St Petersburg.

The Hoops, who finished third in the Champions League group and relegated to the Europa League as a result, were drawn against the Russian side who smashed through their Europa League group with five wins and a draw.

It’s a pair of fixtures that will be very difficult for Celtic to overcome, but one that Dembele is confident they can be ready for.

“I think it’s a good team to play. As a footballer you have to be ready to play against any team and we will be ready,” the 21-year-old said.

“I think we’re good enough to make a mark on the competition, otherwise we wouldn’t be there.

“We were in the Champions League and it didn’t really go our way but we learn from our mistakes.

“Now we have the chance to play in Europe after Christmas, so we need to train hard and make sure we are ready to compete.”

The first leg of the fixture will be at Celtic Park on February 15th, which could well work in the Hoops’ favour if they can create some sort of deficit into the second leg – a much harder place to go.
