Celtic Star Set To Hand Neil Lennon Important Fitness Boost Ahead Of Key Fixture

Celtic right-back Jeremie Frimpong could be back in contention to face FC Copenhagen in the Europa League last 32 tie next week, according to the Daily Record.

The Dutchman has missed the last six games after being stretchered off in the 3-1 win over Kilmarnock last month following a heavy tackle from Alan Power.

Frimpong returned to the training pitch on Thursday morning, following rehab, and he will now have a full week to regain his fitness ahead of the game in Denmark next Thursday evening.

The 19-year-old is unlikely to feature against Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow, but his return to match action will be a big positive for manager Neil Lennon.

The Hoops boss has employed James Forrest in a right wingback position in recent weeks, but he may be tempted to give Frimpong a start against Copenhagen, with the teenager able to fulfil both the defensive and attacking duties required for the role.
