Celtic Step Up Chase For £3m Rated Ivorian Midfield Enforcer

Outside of Celtic Park

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that Bnei Yehuda midfielder Ismaila Soro is on the club’s list of transfer targets for the January transfer window, according to the Daily Record.

The Ivorian was linked with a potential £3m move to Scotland earlier this month, with scouts having reportedly been sent to watch the 21-year-old in action.

Subsequently, it was revealed by Bnei Yehuda’s manager Yossi Abukasi that European clubs have been watching Soro play in recent weeks. French club side Dijon are also said to be targeting the midfielder.

The news that Celtic are indeed in the running for the player suggests Lennon is keen on strengthening his options in the middle of the park.

Callum McGregor and Scott Brown have played a combined 70 games this campaign, and it is thought that the Scottish champions are looking to take some of the workload off the pair, with Olivier Ntcham playing in a more advanced role, and Nir Bitton having been regularly used as a centre-back.
