Celtic Thump St. Johnstone In SPFL Roundup

Celtic fans will be very happy with their team’s performance on Sunday, February 5, as they comfortably swept aside St. Johnstone by a score of 4-1.

St. Johnstone opened the scoring – but not in the way that they may have hoped. Andrew Considine scored an own goal in the 13th minute, which was soon followed up by a second thanks to Kyogo Furuhashi.

A 25th minute goal from Drey Wright did not dissuade the visitors, as they scored two more goals thanks to Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull. Considine’s poor afternoon went from bad to worse, as he was given a red card in extra time. Bhoys fans won’t mind – they restored their nine point lead over bitter rivals Rangers.

The Gers did pick up a win at the weekend, however. They narrowly defeated Ross County by a score of 2-1, with goals coming through Malik Tillman and Borna Barisic.

Elsewhere, Hibernian also narrowly collected a win over St. Mirren in a closely contested affair. The Buddies looked like they may have held onto a draw, but a wonderful goal from Elie Youan sealed the three points for Hibs.

Hibernian’s Edinburgh rivals, Hearts, were also victorious at the weekend. They, too, had to fight for their win – they trailed for most of the game against ten man Dundee United, but were able to turn the tables and win 3-1 thanks to Lawrence Shankland, Alex Cochrane and a 50-yard thunderbolt from Stephen Humphreys.

On top of this, Aberdeen put a stop to their poor form as they beat Motherwell 3-1 and Livingston claimed victory over Kilmarnock, also by a score of 3-1.
