Rodgers Set To Be Handed EIGHT Figure Transfer Budget As Celtic Back Their New Manager

Celtic are expected to hand new manager Brendan Rodgers £30m to spend on players this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The 50-year-old was promised investment by majority shareholder Dermot Desmond, who persuaded him to make the move back to Glasgow.

In addition to the sizeable transfer budget, Rodgers himself will earn £3m a year, while the Hoops will upgrade the club’s Lennoxtown training base.

Qualification for the Champions League group stages for the second season in a row has provided the stability to make such substantial investments both on and off the field.

Rodgers has a lot to thank Postecoglou for

While Postecoglou’s departure for Tottenham was a big disappointment for supporters, the Australian couldn’t have left the club in a better state.

In addition to the extra financial resources which has resulted from two successive Premiership titles, the first-team squad is in rude health.

Prior to Postecoglou leaving the club, he had expressed concerns that some of Celtic’s best players could be poached, and one of Rodgers’s first tasks will be to keep this team together.

Who are Celtic’s transfer targets?

With Rodgers having just arrived at Parkhead, it would be a surprise if the Irishman has had time to put a shortlist together for his recruitment team.

However, reports have already linked the Hoops with two of Rodgers’ former players at Leicester City. Daniel Amartey (who is set to become a free agent), was mentioned as a possible target on Monday, while reports mentioning teammate Wilfried Ndidi have followed since then.

Fans would probably be wise to take transfer rumours with a pinch of salt at the moment, simply because it may take a while for plans to be formulated, but the £30m war chest could lead to some high-profile additions in the coming weeks and months.
