Celtic Vying With English Clubs In Loan Battle For West Brom Outcast

Celtic are interested in signing West Bromwich Albion winger Oli Burke, according to reports in the English media.

The Baggies are said to be open to loaning out the Scottish international during the January transfer window, with the player not featuring in manager Darren Moore’s first-team plans at the Hawthorns.

Celtic may, however, face competition from Nottingham Forest who are keen to re-sign Burke after selling him to RB Leipzig two and a half years ago. Fellow Championship side Millwall are also believed to be interested.

The 21-year-old is the most expensive Scottish player in history after West Brom signed him from Leipzig for £15m in August 2017, but he has failed to kick on since returning to the UK.

Burke has made just 21 appearances for West Brom over the past eighteen months, having made just four starts in all competitions. He may see a move to Scotland as an opportunity to reignite his career, and it will be interesting to see if Celtic make a move for him.
