Celtic Vying With Lazio And Marseille As Report Claims Team Are ‘Ready To Sell’ 24 Year Old Defender For 6M

Celtic are one of three clubs interested in signing Sporting Lisbon right-back Valentin Rosier, according to Le10 Sport.

The French magazine claims that the Scottish club will be battling both Ligue One side Marseille and Serie A club Lazio for the 24-year-old’s signature.

Rosier spent last season on loan at Besiktas where he won the Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup, but he is deemed surplus to requirements by Sporting and Le10 Sport say that the Portuguese champions are “ready to sell” for a fee in the region of €7m (£6m).

Celtic are likely to be interested in signing a right-back, after Jonjoe Kenny returned to Everton following his loan spell with the Hoops. With Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed having left during the January transfer window, it means manager Ange Postecoglou has just one recognised right-sided fullback in Anthony Ralston.

Even then, Ralston’s contract was originally supposed to expire this summer, but Celtic have wisely kept the 22-year-old on for another year. Whether they’ll be able to secure Rosier’s services as they look to strengthen a key area of the squad, we shall see.
