Celtic Weigh Up £9m Bid As They Look To Solve Key Squad Weakness

Celtic are interested in signing Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien, according to reports in France.

The 26-year-old is valued at between €8m (£7m) and €10m (£9m) by the Ligue One club, but the player is said to be keen on the transfer following a visit to Lennoxtown.

With the Hoops apparently having already persuaded Jullien, it will now be up to the board whether they want to finance the move.

The Scottish champions only have two centre-backs in the first team squad currently, with Dedryck Boyata leaving for Hertha Berlin and Filip Benkovic returning to Leicester City.

Jullien is an experienced centre-half, playing nearly 100 matches in the French top flight as well as a fair number of games in the lower leagues.

With Celtic having reportedly agreed to pay £3m for Motherwell’s David Turnbull, it does appear that the club may be loosening the purse strings in order to reinforce weak areas of the squad.
