Celtic Weigh Up Free Transfer Deal For 8 Cap International Defender

Celtic are interested in signing Vojvodina centre-back Sinisa Sanicanin, according to reports in the Romanian media.

The Bosnian, who has eight caps for his country, can leave his current club on a free transfer in the summer, with his current contract set to expire a the end of June.

Sanicanin’s availability has also sparked interest from other teams with Romanian side Craiova weighing up an approach, while two Turkish Super Lig outfits have also been tracking the defender.

Strengthening the centre of defence will be a priority for the Hoops, with Shane Duffy‘s departure back to Brighton at the end of the season leaving the Scottish champions with just three recognised centre-halves.

That number could be reduced even further if Kristoffer Ajer is also sold. The Norwegian international is closing in on the final year of his contract, so it seems prudent for the club to be looking at potential targets like Sanicanin.
