Celtic Weighing Up Bids For Two Premier League Strikers

Celtic could look to sign either Jermain Defoe or Andy Carroll in the January transfer window, according to the Sunday Post.

The Hoops have yet to replace Moussa Dembele, who departed for Lyon in August, and with Leigh Griffiths also unavailable, the need to strengthen up front has become a top priority.

Bournemouth striker Defoe had been eyed in the summer, and with the 36-year-old having barely featured under Cherries boss Eddie Howe this season, he could be open to a move North of the border.

However, it is believed the forward’s wages could prove to be problematic which could see them look at alternatives. West Ham’s Carroll would certainly be a different option.

The target man is out of contract in the summer and could be available for a low fee in January. Again, though, salary could prove a sticking point, but he may see a move to Scotland as a chance to reignite his career after a number of years with injury problems.
