Celtic will face Slavia Prague in the Champions League playoff round if they make it through against CFR Cluj. The Czech Republic outfit made it through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season.
They will be a very tough opponent, having knocked out Sevilla in the last 16 of the Europa League before falling to eventual winners Chelsea in the last eight (losing only 5-3 on aggregate).
Before even thinking about the matchup with Slavia Prague, though, Neil Lennon’s side have to navigate a tricky tie against Cluj. Their first leg in Romania takes place on Wednesday evening.
The return fixture at Celtic Park is played a week on Tuesday, with the Hoops facing a trip to Motherwell for a league match in between the two legs.
After Celtic’s 7-0 hammering of St Johnstone on the opening day of the SPFL season, though, the Scottish champions will head into their European games high in confidence.
