Celtic’s First Champions League Opponents Have Been Revealed

Celtic will face Bosnian club FK Sarajevo in the first qualifying round of the Champions League.

Neil Lennon’s side will play the first leg at home either on July 9th or July 10th. They will then play the away leg in Bosnia on July 16th or 17th.

Sarajevo won the league and cup double last season, but Celtic will be expected to progress after winning the treble once again.

The Hoops lost out to AEK Athens in the third qualifying round last year, but the Scottish champions will be hoping to make it to the group stages for the third time in four years.

If Celtic do fall at the first hurdle, however, they will be given a bye into the third qualifying round of the Europa League due to an odd number of ties in the second round.

It will be interesting to see what team Neil Lennon puts out against Sarajevo with the club yet to make a signing this summer.
