Celtic’s Offered New Hope In Attempts To Sign £2.5m Rated Right Back

Huddersfield Town right-back Tommy Smith has not travelled to Stoke in order to finalise a move to the Potters, according to reports in the local media.

It had been reported that the 27-year-old had turned down a switch to Celtic in order to stay in the Championship.

Smith was said to have left Huddersfield’s training camp in Austria in order to tie up his move to Stoke today, but that appears not to be the case.

Celtic are believed to be keen on the fullback and are reportedly willing to part with £2.5m in order to secure his signature.

If they do miss out on Smith, though, manager Neil Lennon is said to be weighing up another offer for Sheffield United’s George Baldock.

The Blades have already rejected a bid from the Hoops for the right-back but the Scottish champions are in desperate need of reinforcements after playing Kristoffer Ajer on the right-hand side against FK Sarajevo.
